Install OBS Studio on Linux, Free open-source Broadcaster Software.

I think you may have heard about OBS Studio. If not, no worry, I am going to explain it. OBS Studio is free, open-source broadcaster software, it's used for screen recording, video recording, live streaming, and content creation. It's very popular, almost every gamer, streamer, and YouTuber is using it.

OBS Studio was launched in August 2012 by Lain Bailey, and now it's available for all the famous operating systems: Windows, Linux, and macOS.

It has combined like screen recording, live stream, webcam, microphone, images, videos, and overlays. It supports multiple plugins, we can control microphone volume, desktop audio, game audio, browser audio, music audio, etc, we can also connect it to Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Meet, and Discord. It supports multiple source types, such as display capture, window capture, game capture, video capture device (Webcam), browser source, text, images, media files, audio input capture (microphone), and audio output capture (desktop sound). We can say an all-in-one software where we can control everything in a single software.

How to Download

Visit the official website https://obsproject.com and choose your operating system for the software. It's available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Command Line installation method for Linux

  1. Open the terminal, and process this command-

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:obsproject/obs-studio

Type your system password and press Enter. Again, press enter to continue

    1. Update your system

      sudo apt update

    2. Install the OBS studio, type-

      sudo apt install obs-studio

That's all, you will find it in the application menu.

Fix "Failed to start recoding-

This issue primarily affects lower-end computers, particularly those without a dedicated graphics card.

To fix this, go to File and click on settings-

In the settings, go to the Output tab, in the Recording section, change the Recording format Hardware to software, and save it. That's all. Now it should be fixed.

If you are having issues while installing, I have also made a video, which you can watch here-
