From Darkness, I Shine – Introducing Myself as Raven Mad.L (@althany)

👋🏽 Hey there, I hope you're all doing great.

And if you're having a bad day, just remember this:
we can be down... but never defeated.

It's an honor to be part of this platform,
and even more so to know there's a real artistic movement
where people value what's spoken from the heart.

🎙️ Who am I?

My full name is Marco Aurelio Díaz Linares,
but here you’ll find me as @althany.
My artistic name is Raven Mad.L.
Some call me “the composer”,
others just “Mado”,
but names matter less
than the stories we carry.

🌍 Where I’m from

I was born in Pinar del Río, Cuba,
though I currently live in Brazil.
I grew up in a neighborhood where
bad decisions were daily bread,
and need hit harder than the clock.
No father, no resources, no protection.
But I had a strong mother… and a dream.

🔥 Why I write

Because rap was my first form of resistance.
My stepfather –flawed as he was–
left me two lessons I carry proudly:

1. Never mistreat a woman.

2. Don’t wait to be saved — face life head on.

He showed me freestyle,
those nights of raw verses,
and his strange ritual phrase before every rhyme:
“A la mano negra, a la mano negra, negrita pela…”
I never really knew why he said it,
but the way he spoke left a mark on me.


🎧 The beginning

At first, I was just an observer.
Then I became a learner.
And one night, out of nowhere,
I recorded a song with Yasbel (@jeybalthany).
It was terrible… but it was a start.
His uncle mocked me,
said I was a terrible composer.
As a kid, it hurt.
But instead of giving up, I started writing.

🛠️ The birth of W.Loser

Years later, Yasbel and I formed a duo.
We created our own studio: W.Loser,
which stands for "Wise Loser".
Because even when we lost,
we gained wisdom.

Then came COVID, mandatory military service,
and constant lack of resources.
But we never gave up entirely.

📚 What I bring to Hive

Real stories.
Deep narratives with an urban rhythm and soul.
A series of autobiographical chapters,
blending visual aesthetics with raw poetry.
Stories about surviving the streets,
finding refuge in art,
and staying clean in a dirty world.

🔜 What’s coming…

I'm about to release my first chapter:
a journey through what it means to grow up unprotected,
to dream without even having a bed,
and to stay strong when everything’s falling apart.

While telling this story,
I’ll be recording the songs that were born from it,
showing how they evolved
and what inspired me to create them.
The music and the chapters go hand-in-hand,
and I want you to experience the whole process
of how my art transformed
alongside my life.

Thanks to @jeybalthany, I found this platform.
Now I want to use it to share what I’ve got:
