Behavior Modification
Known in English as Behavior Modification, it is the rehabilitation and guidance of individuals' behavior by helping them to abandon a certain behavior and to apply new behavior.
It is also known as the process or method that helps to evaluate individual behavior, based on a set of rules that govern the behavior of the individual through the application of many intellectual and social changes that contribute to the promotion of new behavior and the disposal of old behavior. Behavior modification types
The application of behavioral modification depends on the knowledge and determination of the type of behavior affecting the personality of the individual, which is divided into the following two types:
Respondent behavior is the behavior that is associated with the existence of a set of stimuli, or the factors that cause it to occur by people being affected by it.
For example, when slicing onions, the eye responds to the stimuli emitted by it, which affects the tear duct. . Behavioral behavior is the behavior associated with the influence of the environment surrounding the individual, and drives him to change his usual behavior during the continuation of the impact of the behavior on him, such as economic, political and other effects. Examples of procedural behavior: the reduction of enterprises to their expenses within a specified period of time in case of economic crisis.
Behavior Modification Properties
Behavior modification is characterized by a set of characteristics:
Prediction: The ability to know the nature of behavior before it occurs, by associating it with a range of factors affecting the personality of the individual, the rate of behavior examines the personality of the individual, and determines the nature of the impact on the factors surrounding it to predict the appropriate behavior that helps to get rid of the current behavior.
Adjustment: It is the reconstruction of events that precede the behavior of the individual, the behavior rate helps to eliminate the negative effects associated with behavior, and change them to positive behavior.
Measurement: It is to determine the extent to which an individual is affected by the behavior that must be modified by writing a set of observations and ideas about the nature of behavior in order to arrive at solutions that help promote the application of new behavior.
Steps to Modify Behavior
The behavior modification application supports the following steps:
Identify the behavior that needs to be modified, or disposed of by manipulating it.
Develop a set of ideas that are interested in studying the nature of the behavior depending on the follow-up of the individual, and listening to him during the treatment.
Ask for help and cooperation from family members by asking a set of questions about the behavior to be modified.
Write an organizational plan to determine the nature of the treatment used in modifying the behavior, and the ways and means that will be used to correct it correctly.
Evaluate the results achieved by following the nature of the change in the behavior of the individual through his personal question, and the question of the individuals surrounding him, and rely on the study of the continuity of the impact of the drivers of previous behavior on his personality.
