Why I Chose Ranged Attacks in Melee Mayhem — An Interesting 18 Mana Battle
In low mana battles there is often confusion when selecting monsters because you have many monsters available for selection but because the mana cap is low, you can only select a few specific monsters which definitely creates confusion.
Low mana battles are normally tough then other battles which restricts you monster selection. Also when you see many monsters in your decks then it makes confusion for you.
If I talk about my battles, my win rate is higher in medium to high mana battles compared to low mana battles because in low mana battles I often struggle with the rule set and monster selection.
But today, in this 18 mana battle I got an amazing victory and it was a one sided battle. We only had the opportunity to select a few monsters but even then both of my monsters remained alive while both enemy units kept dying one by one.
In this battle I focused more on ranged attacks instead of melee attacks.
What was my strategy? What I did was select Aurelia as my first monster which provides +1 health to all units.
After that in the front line I selected a monster without any attack power. It only had 1 armor and 1 health. This might be strange for many players that why I wasted the 4 mana for selection of the monster which has no attacking power.
This is because I used the frontline for the protection only. My main focus was on my 2nd monster which was a heavy damage attacker.
The monster I placed in the backline was Kicking Rock which had very high attack power. An attack power of 3 every round. That is why I placed Kicking Rock at the back.
I could have placed it in the front line and made it attack from there but the problem with putting it in the front line is that your front line monster starts taking damage.
If it receives continuous damage twice it could die or be eliminated which could create a difficult situation for my last monster.
That is why I placed a monster with armor and health in the front line. Although it had no attack power I selected it only to absorb damage.
I used it only as protection while my main job was done by Kicking Rock. It had 3 ranged attack power, meaning it attacked with +3 damage every round.
The battle was decided in only three rounds. Both enemy monsters were eliminated one by one and I got an amazing victory.
MELEE MAYHEM
In this battle, we saw a rule set called Melee Mayhem. Under this rule all melee attack units get the ability to attack from any position.
In other words this rule gives melee attackers the flexibility to attack easily from any position.
According to this rule set, melee attackers were given more preference. However, because I did not have any special melee monsters with strong melee power in my collection I decided to focus on ranged attacks.
I entered this battle with a specific strategy based on the rule set and I got an amazing victory.
My favorite monster in today's battle was Kicking Roc which played an important role and helped me achieve this victory.
What would your strategy be in this type of rule set and which monster would you give more preference to? Will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
