And I was the only one who knew it. That Sunday it would be the 10th time...

It all used to start on Monday. Normal working day, I used to put on my policeman uniform, brush my teeth in a rush and leave. Do my regular duties. Go home. Nothing unusual happened. Same old routine.

Then, on Tuesday, something would change. In the evening, she used to text me.

"Can we talk?" left on read.

Wednesday. Same outfit, same toothpaste, different text before bed.

"Let me explain, Tony, please." second message left on read.

Thursday. Ran out of toothpaste. Need to buy a new one. 3 missed calls from her.

Friday. The day I regret the most every week. Back home. She wanted to come in and talk. Didn't let her in.

Saturday. No work, day off. The world suddenly felt peaceful and quiet. No message from her. No call from her. What is going on?

Sunday. In the whirlwind of thoughts. Did she give up? Couldn't sleep again. Then, at dawn, a doorbell rang. It was her. I opened the door. "What do you want?" She kissed me. I let her in. The town disappeared.
