Latin nameObservation DateLocation

During one of my explorations to the beautiful San Juan River in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, I had the privilege of encountering a fascinating creature, a Pseudosphinx tetrio in its caterpillar phase. This encounter was amazing, allowing me to observe the beauty of Cuban nature up close.
Finding the Pseudosphinx tetrio in its caterpillar phase, just before its metamorphosis, is to witness a crucial moment in the life cycle of this fascinating creature, although it spends most of its life as a caterpillar, feeding voraciously to prepare to finally emerge as a beautiful moth. Finding it at this precise moment allowed me to observe those beautiful colors it has, those black and yellow stripes, followed by a beautiful contrast with its deep red head and legs, which are not observed in the adult phase of the specimen, although to be honest the most impressive thing is the size they reach, reaching up to 15 cm in length.
Capturing this moment with my camera was a wonderful experience, each image taken became a testimony of the biodiversity that Cuba houses and an indelible memory of my adventure in the San Juan River, where I managed once again to connect in a big way with the natural environment and remember the great importance of its conservation.

I hope you enjoy these images very much and that they contribute to science.
