The rivers of Jharkhand are mostly non-perennial rivers. So the villagers collect empty bags of cement and fill sand in it and stack it as a barrier to increase the water level in rivers to irrigate their fields for crops as per their need. This structure doesn't end their water scarcity but at least this helps to store water for at least few months which is sufficient enough to harvest a crop.
