Raindrops on a succulent.
Raindrops on succulents
My favourite Afrikaans word at the moment is vetplantjie (which is a succulent plant or like my husband and I like to call them - fat plants)
There’s something magical about the way raindrops cling to succulents. After a soft drizzle, tiny droplets settle on the thick, fleshy leaves, reflecting light and magnifying the intricate textures of the plant. It’s a moment of stillness—nature’s way of pausing to appreciate the rain.
The way the water beads up on the waxy surface of the leaves of succulents, creating perfect little spheres, is totally mesmerising. "Vetplantjies" are fascinating plats, I love their uniquely shaped leaves and fun ombre of greens and greys. I love my little "fat plants"
These photos remind me to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life, the intoxicating scent of fresh rain and the stillness after the storm. I hope these images bring you a sense of calm as well!
