All parts of this ornamental plant contain glycosides, complex substances in plants that contain sugar. Glycosides can cause several poisoning reactions such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, hallucinations, headaches, and delirium. The characteristics of people who are poisoned by this type of ornamental plant have a weak pulse, tremors, convulsions and can even cause deadly heart rhythm disorders.
