The Reward Is Delayed, Not Denied
You gave everything you had to a project, did everything right, and still fell short. Watching effort not translate into the outcome we expected can really make us doubt our competence.
In life, as in leadership, effort does not always guarantee instant success, and sometimes the reward simply takes longer to arrive than we would like.
Here is what I remind myself and my clients in those moments. When you come up short despite your best work, that is not proof you failed, it is proof the reward is delayed, not denied, and patience is the bridge between the effort and the outcome.
So here is a question for you, where do you need to stay patient after giving your absolute best and still falling short?
