Now, let us turn to the topic of altering genetics. While this might sound like the concept of a Hollywood movie, research into this area is certainly underway. Just as you can have a machine customized to your needs, it is becoming possible to customize the genetics of your future children according to your preferences.

When you first heard about this, you might have thought it was a highly modern technology capable of improving our children's prospects—believing that a child with a better start can build a superior future and achieve greater success. Indeed, this concept holds immense promise for addressing certain issues; for instance, there are genetic diseases affecting young children that are difficult to prevent or treat in time, largely because performing surgery at such a young age is extremely challenging. The advent of such technology would mark a revolutionary shift, enabling us to prevent diseases that are genetically transmitted to children. These conditions are particularly critical because, once they take hold in a child's body, halting their progression becomes nearly impossible; the diseases are severe, and the level of surgery required is difficult to perform on young children—not to mention the significant side effects that often follow such procedures.

While this technology offers benefits, a potential adverse consequence is that people might misuse it. For instance, wealthy parents who can afford this technology might attempt to engineer a "perfect" child by utilizing available genetic modifications. Consequently, their children would possess all the genetic traits associated with perfection. Many might wonder what is wrong with this, given that every parent desires a perfect child; however, the major downside is that if all parents were to adopt these modifications, the very nature of competition would be eliminated. Artificially enhanced children would enter society, and naturally, ordinary children would be unable to compete with them.

Such practices create an imbalance in society. Parents who can afford these genetic enhancements will be able to give their children the best possible start, whereas those who cannot will face significant difficulties; this could lead to a societal divide between genetically enhanced children and those born naturally. When these children enter the workforce, competition will arise, and companies—prioritizing their own interests—will naturally select the best candidates, potentially leading to serious employment-related issues. I believe it is better to let things take their natural course; tampering with nature can be risky, as adverse effects might not be immediately apparent but could manifest as unforeseen problems for the children in the future.

We can utilize this type of technology for purposes such as preventing genetically transmitted diseases or addressing issues that manifest in a child while still in the womb. However, we should not tamper with the traits naturally present in a child; every child is unique and possesses distinct qualities, so we ought not to interfere with this natural state. In today's world, we witness the severe consequences of tampering with nature, yet the practice continues; however, it is crucial to halt biological manipulation, as it can lead to serious complications and jeopardize a child's future. Therefore, the best approach is to allow natural traits to remain as they are.
