Crypto market update ✍️

In today’s crypto market, Ethereum is trading strongly above $4000, showing significant growth and resilience. However, in contrast to Ethereum’s positive momentum, most altcoins are experiencing a noticeable decline many have dropped 15–20% in the last few days. This disconnect is creating confusion and frustration among investors. Despite Bitcoin dominance decreasing and Ethereum dominance increasing, the broader altcoin market hasn’t seen the benefit yet. A deeper look into charts like ETH Dominance, ETH/BTC, and Others/ETH reveals that capital is flowing out of altcoins and into Ethereum. Historically, similar patterns have been seen when ETH rises sharply, it pulls liquidity from the altcoins, leading to underperformance in the rest of the market.

This pattern suggests we might still be in a phase where Ethereum is the primary focus of capital rotation, especially as it nears or retests its previous all-time highs. Altcoins tend to underperform Ethereum during such phases. However, when ETH Dominance hits major resistance or stabilizes, we often see funds rotating from Ethereum into altcoins, sparking altcoin rallies. Until then, the altcoin market may continue to lag behind. Based on past cycles like in 2020, after Ethereum tops out and becomes overvalued, investors start looking for alternatives this is when altcoins typically catch up. Right now, Ethereum’s sharp recovery and strong dominance suggest that we may be approaching a pivot point, and once ETH cools down or hits resistance, we could see a wave of rotation into altcoins.
