EL MONSTRUO

El monstruo,
el que anima tus sombras,
quien apaga las luces del túnel,
está dentro de ti;
porque eres bueno,
pero también los buenos tienen miedo.

Porque han visto caer a sus héroes,
porque han visto morir a los justos,
porque han sufrido las mismas heridas;
tienen miedo de ser arrasados,
del vendaval, de la espada, del silencio.
Nada mata mejor que el monstruo interno.

Pero el monstruo no tiene conciencia,
no piensa, no razona,
está ahí, agazapado, autómata,
acechando que quieras la victoria para contradecirte,
para matarte de terror,
porque los malos matan a traición
y la peor canallada es la interna.

Pero tú sí piensas,
y ahora que estás en el espejo;
observa, no hay más rostro que el tuyo,
ocupa tu razón, tu conciencia,
está por encima del monstruo;
porque el bien siempre da la batalla.

The monster,
the one who animates your shadows,
who extinguishes the lights of the tunnel,
is inside you;
because you are good,
but even the good are afraid.

Because they have seen their heroes fall,
because they have seen the righteous die,
because they have suffered the same wounds;
they are afraid of being swept away,
of the gale, of the sword, of silence.
Nothing kills better than the monster within.

But the monster has no conscience,
it does not think, it does not reason,
it is there, crouching, automaton,
waiting for you to want victory in order to contradict you,
to kill you with terror,
because the bad guys kill treacherously
and the worst villainy is the internal one.

But you do think,
and now that you are in the mirror;
observe, there is no other face but yours,
it occupies your reason, your conscience,
is above the monster;
because the good always give the battle.
