Steemit PROBLEMS - What's Going On???

Steemit seems to be super slow as of lately. I don't know if it is a massive influx of new Steemians, bad servers, malware or in fact the images everyone loads. The images I find hard to believe as they were there when I started on Steemit, and I just read an article with like 30 high def images that loaded with no problem. Issue came when I tried to upvote, which never worked, and commenting too a long time to post.

I already posted this article, or pretty much like this but it disappeared while posting....

So my question is what is going on? Is there a secretive miner running, are we at risk of viruses? Most importantly, as this has been a few weeks now that Steemit.com is unusable, what is being done to correct the matter, if anything. And what is the future of Steemit.com?

Is Steemit.com another victim of the KRACK issue, or possibly an influx of mobile users on a platform not quite ready for use? Regardless, this has been the reason for my inactivity.
