Finally someone has done what needs to be done. Finally, someone not only talks the talk, but takes the decisions. At last, someone has confronted the Hungarians with the fact that the stirring up and expression of the most vile passions is unacceptable in Europe.

After all, the reaction of the Hungarian Government is further damaging our country's already deteriorating international image. After the HFF (Hungarian Football Federation), as a lame duck, watched helplessly, or at worst, as an accomplice, silently tolerated and, God forbid, even encouraged the mob that discredited our country with homophobic banners and shouts, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, instead of acknowledging its mistakes, began to vilify the organisation that made an fair and proportionate decision based on unquestionable evidence. In doing so, the government has reduced national solidarity to the level of solidarity with the perpetrators of crimes.

In a particularly sharp contrast, the British Prime Minister immediately distanced himself from his own ultras when UEFA also fined the English FA for racist remarks. That would be natural, but it is almost unthinkable in Hungary nowadays.
