Kaiserschmarren at Rax (1500m) in Austria
A very popular dish in Austria is Kaiserschmarren. This is a soft and sweet dough served together with a jam. It is also a popular dish in Hungary, but it looks and tastes quite differently there, meaning that many people enjoy the dish in Hungary (but not in Austria), or they like it in Austria, but not in Hungary.
A few days ago, I got to taste this food at the so-called Ottohaus Rax, a guesthouse located 1500 meter above sea-level, in fresh air and with a fanastic view. Just take a look at the following picture.
The picture above is taken from outside the Ottohaus. So, what is better than walking in the mountain, only to take a little break to taste one of the most popular dishes in Austria? The Ottohaus itself might not be the most luxurious place, but here you can see a picture I made of it from a distance (that is why the quality isn't that nice).
I might be more fond of the Hungarian version than the Austrian version of this food, but after climbing a mountain and as you enjoy a view like this, everything tastes fantastic!
