There's a big contest in progress on our beloved blockchain! By big I mean there are some very substantial prizes, donated by one of STEEM's biggest benefactors and promoters @theycallmedan!

Over 100 entries were submitted from Steemians inspired to create a meme about the rise of #NewSteem from the ashes of Old Steem. Now it is up to the community to vote for their favorite, MEme!

Why vote in this contest?

The MEme you vote for represents an active, dedicated, and optimistic member of our steem economy. Someone who wants to see STEEM succeed. When STEEM succeeds, we all benefit!

I've been here for two years and a few hard forks. I know people still have misgivings about this one, especially those who were hurt by the last one (or more.) We don't yet know where this one will lead, but as for ME, so far I see only positive signs. Bid bot activity down, trending page is readable, curation rewards up, and I see a few more whales or orcas coming out to play!

The biggest problem with Old Steem was that regular Steemians like you and I have not been determining what gets rewarded. With large stakes delegated to bidbots auto-upvoting the largest payer, it's been hard to feel empowered or rewarded out here in the world of organic interaction. We have a chance to change that, so why not start now by voting for MEmes?

We all want the best (MEme) to win. 530 Steem Power is enough to make a minnow! For ME, it would double my current holding. I could finally cast a vote above the dust threshold. Imagine what 5300 delegated SP would do!

Even the 80 SP offered for the top 8 entries will be quite a significant impact for MEmes (if selected.) That's why I couldn't pass up this opportunity myself.
