Making yummy biscuits/scones in 45minutes
Hello foodies... Here to share a recipe to make scones or biscuits in 45 minutes with a frying pan. Yeah, you head me right. A FRYING PAN instead of baking in the oven, this is an easy fix and delicious 🤤
Scones are milky, creamy snacks eaten by the queen of England… 😅 that’s not a definition I know, just kidding around and stating the truth though. However it is popularly taken with tea (for breakfast or brunch) a lovely snack indeed.
It can be argued that it is different from biscuits because rather than a dry cracker or a crunchy cookie, It is moist, creamy, mild in your mouth after a soft bite and delicious😋 So sorry you almost lost me there in the dreamy land yummies.
I tasted scones for the first time whilst in school for tea break and was sold. It was exceedingly sumptuous. Biscuits are one of my favorite snacks though I can trade biscuits for a good scone anytime. That’s how much I love it.
When I returned home from school, I browsed on the net to see the steps in making it as the taste literally reveals its content.
Scones recipe
100grams of plain flour
One table spoon of baking powder
Baking margarine
4 tablespoons of sugar
30ml Choco powder OR whole milk
Two large eggs
Half a glass of water
STEP ONE ( Mixing the dry ingredients)
Mix the powdery things in a bowl first (The 100gram of plain flour, the table spoon of baking powder, 30ml choco powder and 4 tsp of sugar) then making a hole in the middle of the flour with the scooping spoon, squeeze out a quater of the 120gram of margarine into the flour then rub in the margarine with the flour mixture till it is granulated and smooth as seen below:
STEP TWO (mixing the liquid ingredients with the flour mixture)
Making a hole once more in the middle of the flour mixture.
Pour in a quater of the half glass of water and the two eggs then mix checking it's consistency, if dry keep adding water and if watery add some flour.
Knead the flour till it looks like the picture below:
STEP THREE (making round balls of kneaded flour and flattening it)
Cutting out the size you prefer though as a little as possible to make a thin pastry. You cut out round balls as seen below then either using two spoons (a scooping spoon and a table spoon) or your palms- you make flat the balls then poking it through with a tooth pick for it to get ready faster as seen below:
It will be a fun practical with kids or friends. This is the end result of flattened and poked batch of kneaded flour.
STEP FOUR (Making the quick fix scones)
Placing the the frying pan on the lit fire. Squeeze out a little quantity of cooking margarine and tilt the pan on all sides so it touches every part of the pan. Next, take one after another the flattened cakes and place in the heated pan then cover for 7mins.
I added melted choco on the top for extra choco taste.
When it is ready to turn over it looks dried up on the edges.
In turning it, it's crusty and a bit hard.
Made each batch in 15minutes. It took two pans to make these two pantries of scones.
It tastes so good. My mum and siblings enjoyed every bit of it. It was so filling too.
Do have a splendid week ahead.
