Discipline Won, Tempted but Determined: My Day 3 Raw Food Journey
Hello Hive family, happy midweek! How was your day?
So, it’s day three of my 5-day raw food challenge, and I’m glad and proud to say I stood with discipline instead of temptation.
In the last two days of my raw food challenge, I was only tempted by the aroma from the kitchen, especially at lunch time. But guess what happened today...
I woke up feeling quite pressed this morning and had to rush to the toilet. I emptied my bowels effortlessly and felt much lighter afterwards.
I usually fast on Wednesdays, so I woke up in that consciousness and stayed away from food, even though I hadn’t planned to fast today. It turned out to be a busy morning anyway, so breakfast came later than the past two days.
Honestly, my mood was better, but by noon (Nigerian time), I started feeling faint and weak. I finally had a late breakfast of an apple, a pear, and a guava, with a small bottle of ginger drink.
Even after eating, I still felt a bit tired, so I drank some water and rested. Later on, I had a late lunch of six small fingers of banana with some groundnuts. I also smacked on some cashew nuts in between.
Since yesterday, I’ve noticed that I hardly feel thirsty after eating fruits, probably because of their high water content. Still, as a sickle cell warrior, I’m conscious about drinking water at intervals, which has dramatically helped.
Now, guess what? Today’s lunch aroma came from me as I had to prepare a jollof spaghetti for my family. It was so tempting, but I disciplined myself and said no. You can only imagine how I kept salivating around the spaghetti pot, knowing I wouldn't have a taste. It was an actual test of discipline, and I am happy I passed. Honestly, I could easily have let go, but... I resisted all that temptation.
That alone taught me a profound lesson on discipline, determination, and honesty with myself. I miss cooked foods, but I’m determined to overcome this challenge. I also secretly hope I’ll continue feeling this light and free even after I resume eating cooked meals. LOL
I planned an early dinner and am having fruit salad and tiger nut milk. I feel I should hydrate more.
What do you think, though? Thanks for stopping by—see you tomorrow!
