Studio Update 116: Gnar World progress devlog
i realized its been a while since i made a studio update.
Gnar World has been coming along. the world is growing, and becoming more interesting to explore.
NPCs in the game now have dialogue and custom speech bubbles.
the player sprites have been increased by about 100% and i have re drawn ALL of the player sprite animations. i have not been absent from working on this game. it was brutal to re draw all of these but they look MUCH better now. i am glad that task is done.
to give you an example of how much more detail was added:
new areas of the world are being created and we are working hard on level design which is a whole art in itself. people go to school just for level design and there many things to consider when designing a level. you dont want to waste space and you want to guide the player through the level in a way that does not annoy them.
we are experimenting with sonic-like physics and how to use them.
we have new music in the game by the Mild High Club
we have new artists working on the game now
we have billboards in the game now that i am going to have different artists working on art for
more 3d props are being added to the game
Lots of new NPCs have been added to the game
The whip wiz is the main one that will be helping the player unlock the tricks.
i will be doing another studio update with all the other NPCs that have been animated because this post will otherwise become too long. this marks a section of time that i have no written a devlog for. this content here, was generated about a month ago. there are newer updates that i want to separate into a new devlog post. you can expect that next week. i also worked on Game Maker Toolkit game jam this weekend. i wrote a post about the game we made. thanks for stopping by
