Alright, so i dusted off the ol' Quest For Stoken game i made in game maker. and
were asking me like, "what did you ever do with that game?" after i took it down from being hosted on heroku.
For those that dont know i used to have it hooked up to and we were rewarding people for their high score. I decided to take it down because
was able to hack the high scores and type in any amount he wanted using the browser developer tools lol.
I havent opened up QFS since the emergence of "vibe coding" so i kinda wondered if i could feed my game maker project to cursor and see if it could help me quickly make some stuff.
and i got sucked back in again!
i ended up going through the whole game and fixing stuff that i was never able to fix back in the day.
added a Dash state.
you can dash through enemies without being damaged.boomerang goggles now pick up coins and bring them to you.
- stoking the campfires now requires you to fan the flames with your american flag sword lol. i like this better and actually kinda references the new dark souls night reign in how you have to hack away at your team mates when they are dead to revive them.
Im actually stoked on this game. im proud of what i made. looking back its like whoa. kinda crazy i made this. But now its better! oh and i have to shout out here.
And there is still one part thats not finished in it,

a new skatehive user took the time to play and bring to my attention that i need to finish the atlantis level.

you can find the QFS game there.
obviously just a component vlad made with AI.
he also made this retro TV thing that doesn't really fit right. it looked better before i adjusted the iframe size but i think we might have to remove it eventually. I'll fix the game, you fix the skatehive website vlad lol.
anyways. thanks to for sitting with me for only about an hour, and walking me through putting this game up on vercel for all to enjoy again!
Oh yeah, I added grind sparks to the enemies when they jump onto the rails! lol. (in the later levels)
Who knows maybe we will have another OCD QFS contest in the future, but for now it will live on skatehive as an artifact.
So even though im deep into another Gnar World Session, i like switching it up and diving back into QFS, and now i gotta dive deep into the water level.
If you play, DONT GO TO GREECE! greece is the route that isnt finished, instead go above.
I also changed the controls to make them like gnar world.

I feel like this game is really close to being able to be a multiplayer game. one thing i would like to add is the ability to choose character. i have the sprites made but i need to build the system to do it. imagine a multiplayer game where you could fight each other.
