Hello, Afri-tunes community, it’s your boy @wealthwess and I’m glad to be here this week. We’re now in week 169 and this week i’ll be making a cover of a song by the ever talented Afro-pop star, Mayorkun and he titled this song Mama.

Talking of Mayorkun, One thing I’ve always admired about him is how he made his way into the industry with so much style and consistency. From being discovered through social media to becoming one of the frontliners of DMW then, his journey is truly inspiring.

Mama is one of those songs that effortlessly combines great songwriting with a catchy rhythm. It tells the story of love and loyalty, especially in a time when material things often define relationships. In this track, Mayorkun sings about a partner who stays true and committed despite the circumstances.

I also respect Mayorkun for how he represents the new wave of Afrobeat artists who are pushing the genre globally while staying true to their roots. His blend of heartfelt lyrics, energetic delivery, and modern Afrobeat sound is simply refreshing.

Overall, I chose “Mama” for this week because it’s timeless. The message of true love and devotion resonates deeply, and the melody has a way of sticking with you. I considered this song as a perfect blend of emotion and vibe, and that’s why it stood out to me more as the ideal choice for this week’s concert.
