My first e-bike: Advertised range vs. actual range
Was sagt ihr dazu?
English
The range specifications of electric vehicles (both e-cars and e-bikes) should always be taken with a grain of salt.
The specified range is usually something like a maximum under ideal laboratory conditions, i.e. no stop & go, straight-ahead driving, no hills, constant speed, ideal outside temperature for the battery, etc.
The manufacturer ADO specifies a range of 100 km (62 miles) for my e-bike (ADO A20S).
I can now tell you now how far it really goes. In city traffic (in Vienna) in the fastest mode (3) and when I'm riding at maximum speed as far as possible (25 km/h, 15.5 mp/h), I get a range of around 50 kilometers (31 miles), which is still impressive.
In mode 1 with the lowest motor assist it does about 60km (37 miles) before the low battery indicator lights up.
I thought that in the slowest mode, where you have to pedal the most, I might manage even more, but that's how the figures are in reality.
So I would say in practice the e-bike manages 50-60 km (30-40 miles) on a single charge.
I still think that's impressive and more than enough for the city. What do you guys think?
