Facebook shuts down Diem (Libra)

Es sieht so aus als würde Facebook Diem (Libra) auflösen.

Libra war ein ambitioniertes Stablecoin-Projekt von Facebook, das vielleicht im Nachhinein betrachtet zu früh und ambitioniert war und letztendlich am politischen Widerstand gescheitert ist.

Andererseits muss man Facebook anrechnen, große Awareness/Pionierarbeit für Krypto in Washington geleistet zu haben und dass Krypto auch in der IT-Firmenwelt angekommen ist.

Kann mich noch an die ganzen Kongress-Meetings mit Zuckerberg erinnern, wo er Krypto und Libra verteidigt hat. Der regulatorische Widerstand war sicher enorm und extrem mühsam.

Facebook (Meta) zieht sich aber nicht vollständig von Krypto zurück, sondern arbeitet jetzt am Metaverse, das vermutlich auch Krypto-Features (NFTs?) enthalten könnte und auch Instagram soll mit NFTs liebäugeln.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Warum ist Libra/Diem gescheitert?

It looks like Facebook is shutting down Diem (Libra).

Libra was an ambitious stablecoin project by Facebook that, perhaps in hindsight, was too early and ambitious and ultimately failed due to political resistance.

On the other hand, Facebook must be credited with having done pioneering work for crypto in Washington and raised awareness that crypto has arrived in the corporate IT world.

Remembering all the congressional meetings with Zuckerberg defending crypto and Libra. The regulatory resistance was certainly enormous and extremely tedious.

However, Facebook (Meta) is not completely withdrawing from crypto, but is now working on the Metaverse, which could presumably include crypto features (NFTs?) and Instagram is also said to be flirting with NFTs.
