Old Jaffa port - never will be the same. (series of 23 images)

I started my visits to the old Jaffa port and the old city together with my "addiction" to photography. This wasn't something strange - 15 years ago this area was dangerous for the walks alone, but it was the only originally looks place that I was able to get just in 15 minutes by car from my living place. The old buildings, the narrow dirty streets, lots of street cats, and the homeless inhabiting these exotic streets.

I photographed (and walked) here almost every weekend. Sometimes also during the workdays, just was able to jump here in the middle of the day. There always was a place to park a car. Sometimes this also was very dangerous to leave the car even closed.

The smell of the close port was pretty nice and attractive. Many Fishermans tortured their happiness with fishing rods and there were cats sitting there waiting for prey.

Everything has its own start and an end. Jaffa already changed drastically. Rich people came and found a huge potential in this lovely by tourists and by the local visitors' area. Part of the old buildings was destroyed and some parts renewed, but they completely lost the original vibe and look. Many local residents were forced to leave this place and to move to the less expensive sleeping areas. Many just can't live in these new conditions of the non-stop noisy tourist groups and inability to find a parking place. Sure there are a lot of other not less important reasons unknown to me.

The small and moody restaurants very replaced with these huge eating places with the long queues - this time I saw around 50 people just stand close to the tables with eating visitors and all this pressuring atmosphere wasn't pleasuring at all. The quality of the dishes also changed from personal to more "industrial".

I really would like by my nature to stay positive, but I know that Jaffa will never be the same as it still exists in my history.
