Self Control – The Mark of A True Christian Man

“A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.”

(Proverb 25:28)

If there’s one thing that is the most difficult, then it is the ability to control oneself. In it is the glory of God revealed, and without it is the downfall and doom of a man.

Self-control is a fundamental attribute that every Christian should aspire to cultivate. It is not a natural ability, but a fruit of the spirit that grows in our lives through discipline and obedience to God’s words.

You might say, “Is it only Christians that need discipline?” Of course not! I believe every man must exercise self-control if he must go through life without regrets.

The Bible teaches that self-control is essential to living a victorious and fulfilling life. We must learn to control our thoughts and desires, and submit them to God’s will.

For in this the apostle Paul, said to the Corinthians, “I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:27).

Self-control is never easy, but it is possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. You must understand that by strength shall no man prevail.

When we rely on our own strength, the arms of flesh will always fail us, but we can overcome our weaknesses and temptations by seeking God’s strength and guidance.

By submitting to God’s will for our lives, we feed the spirit in us, which eventually makes us live a life worthy of our calling.

So, if we must live a fulfilling and victorious life, then self-control is crucial, for without it, no one can control his destiny. For a man must first conquer himself in order to conquer the world.
