Digital ID and Hive

Because Hive provides digital identification services to the market that requires the highest level of vigilance and care because this enables access to financial resources, the oncoming implementation of digital identity schemes globally is both a potential hazard and opportunity to Hive and relevant developers.

I'll not tag them here, but Peakd, Arcange, Keychain, and others all have made considerable investments in enabling Hive users to secure and access their assets via rigorous identification mechanisms. Because Hive both provides rigorous identification and enables that identification to be pseudonymous, the obvious intention of national and extranational institutions to wield digital ID as leash, whip, and treat to exercise proprietary control of civilians is contrary to the interests of Hive, devs, and the community of Hive users, who without security from the institutions wielding these powers, will eventually either be excluded from a wide variety of services, perhaps all the blessings of civilization, or be granularly allowed access per the permission of the cryptic powers behind the thrones of the relevant hierarchies, completely unnecessarily.

I bring the following to your attention as a warning of what is coming, and in the hope that some mitigation of the hazards and avoiding the worst of the harms might be enabled by this forewarning.

It is obviously not necessary for Hive users to provide their DNA samples, retina scans, or fingerprints to access their funds, and the mechanisms that have advented via Hive do not require any security risks regarding the safekeeping of such information - of any information - regarding the valuable PII of Hive users, and yet we can be certain sure these will be demanded by governments and extranational identity providers.

I am way out of my wheelhouse on this issue, but I am no less at risk than any of us of the hazards and harms that will arise deliberately, because the purpose of the powerful in forcing digital ID on the people of the world will be to gain more power, and that will come at our expense.

Please consider whether we can allow this to be done to us without undertaking to demonstrate that there's no excuses for loss of sovereignty, security, or assets to tyrannical digital identity schemes, or the imposition of social credit scores and control of every aspect of our access to the blessings of civilization.
