46$ As New Minimum Wage | Are We Not In Soup

It was really a laughing matter when I heard the news that our dear president finally accepted to increase the minimum wage from 33,000 naira (22$) to 70,000 naira which is roughly 46$ as at now since 1$ is sitting pretty at 1550 yet some people with low sense are jubilating about the news. I could remember back in 2020, during the covid era, the minimum wage was around 18,000 and dollar to naira rate then wasn't up to 500 naira per dollar and things weren't that expensive, It was during my nysc time and when I received my first month allawee, I just hissed because it is nothing, and it finished within a week, now things are 3-4x in price and they only increase it to 70k which can't even buy a bag of rice.

Someone once tweeted that people should started their country minimum wage as commented, someone from Nigeria tweeted, the guy was shocked and I laughed when I saw the guy reply, that is what we are going through in this country even income is way lower than expenses and the funniest part is that some people still receive 10$ as their monthly salary, I don't even know how this people always manage to survive talkless of having a saving plan, when I read the announcement, the labour leader was given two option to choose from, their initial plan after protesting was that the minimum wage should be around 400k+ and at some point they increase it higher but the president insist on 70k or nothing but when he noticed this people were proving stubborn and serious on the matter, he gave them two option, either he increase it to 70k which they have to stick with for the next 3years before deciding to make a review or they increase it to 200k with a condition that they have to increase price of fuel also.

They had no option than to pick 70k but if left to me, I would have pick 200k with their condition because we all know that even with the 70k, the price of fuel will still increase, now it is a win for them but a loss to the citizen. Also heard they are planning to make cng the new mobile fuel and will be commission up to free kits to people which I know is a lie, even if it is true, only their people will benefit from it and they will use that moment to siphon more funds to their pocket, we are really in for a long ride.
