Immigrant life is not easy!

We arrived in Calgary less than 2 months ago. So much bureaucracy to solve, leaving the hotel and finding a nice apartment (reconciling location, access to public transportation, close to the school), opening a bank account, registering the family in the health system (and finding a family doctor), resuming: starting over!

As much as in the last 3 years we have tried to understand how life works in the country we chose to rebuild our lives, it is only by living, getting it right and making mistakes that we learn.

We started the plan in 2019 and the challenges on this journey have been many. It is very important that anyone thinking about moving to another country knows what lies ahead, and prepares financially and psychologically for this change. The investment of time and money is huge, and you need to be very sure of what you want in order not to risk your plan.

Being here is a pride without explanation. When we stop to think how much we have achieved in these 2 months, seeing the items being crossed off our checklist and starting a new plan with new challenges, now HERE, is an incredible feeling.

The choice of living in safety, having a higher purchasing power, access to health and quality education, paying less taxes for it, is what brought us here. And it's what drives us every morning.

But there are also difficult days: being away from family and friends, from our routine, food, all of this is part of the process and we have to know how to manage it. And it's a good thing that technology exists to help us get over our homesickness.

For those who want to change - be it a new country, career, life, my advice is: Don't give up! Don't let anyone belittle your dreams. Plan. Have plans A, B, C, set goals, and go ahead!!!! It is worth living this experience.

Planeje. Tenha planos A, B, C , trace metas e siga em frente!!!! Vale a pena viver esta experiência.
