Oculus was created by Kristin Jones, Andrew Ginzel, Rinaldo Piras and is located  at Chambers Street-World Trade Center, Park Place. It was installed 1998.

Oculus is Latin and means an eye.  - http://dictionary.reference.com/ The single eye refers to the

Eye of Horus, the all seeing eye, a representation of Lucifer.

Oculus consists of 301 different mosaic eyes on separate panels, all based upon actual human eyes of three hundred individual New Yorkers from real photographs.

The centerpiece of the work is an elliptical glass and stone mosaic floor, with a magnificent micro mosaic eye at the center of an ultramarine vortex with the image of the City of New York woven into the picture.
