The pohutakawa

New Zealand’s Christmas tree.

These trees come into blossom around Christmas time and especially in the far north, they can be found all along the coastline. It makes for a lovely splash of colour as you drive along the coast.

Honey bees really love there flowers and this tree was swarming with bees while I was taking photographs. There weren’t concerned about me at all, and were just busily filling up on pollen and heading home.
