Organic Garden: Owl Cabin
A few weeks ago the owner of the Organic garden came with a brilliant idea to hang a owl cabin somewhere on the land.
Last week I built one, had some help with painting. I could explain a little bit about the Owl Cabin to the kids who are there on schooldays. It was fun trying to level with these special kids :-)
As you can see there a few compartments in the cabin. To the kids I explained it as follows. There is a front door, like your home, there is the hallway and the door to the living room.
The hallway between the 'two doors' functions as a corridor to keep certain predators (like a stone marten) outside. The outside is painted with stain, to the keep the rain outside, while the inside is plain. This to absorb any moist while they breed or having diner at their table ;-)
It was quiet fun to make, its not something I do daily and I learned a bit about the little owl. And who knows in a few months or years the cabin is occupied with many little owls.
Last we also started to continue creating containers for the kids. In a few weeks I'll give you an update about that. It's amazing how much fun these special kids have creating the containers.
Cheers Timothy!
