Couchsurfing - A helpful travel application

Have you heard of Couchsurfing travel app? This is a relatively new application and not yet popular in Vietnam. Couchsurfing is an application that connects tourists with indigenous people in a region when they come to explore. You can ask to stay or make friends with locals so they can provide useful information with you

When you use this, you can talk and make friends with all people in the world. I once read a book about a Vietnamese girl's bicycle journey from China to her hometown in 30 days. When she arrived at a new destination, she contacted the local and they agreed to give her a place to sleep overnight at no cost. On the contrary, she gave them unique gifts such as handwritten letters, books, etc. . .

The book inspired me a lot to use Couchsurfing. When I go to a new tourist destination, I no longer book hotels in advance, but instead I use Couchsurfing to connect with locals asking to stay at their homes. And at the end of last year, I had a memorable trip in Hue thanks to Couchsurfing

I connected with a friend from Hue, Thao - 24 years old. She picked me up from Phu Bai airport to her house despite the heavy rain. I talked with her family and learned a lot about the culture and people here. I can eat and stay at Thao's house completely for free. I really appreciate that and I gave Thao 2 scented candles and "Cốm" - Hanoi's specialty- my city.

In the second day, Thao was absent from work to take me out to explore Hue, visit the scenic spots and eat the best food here. She is really a very gentle, kind and wonderful person. I had an unforgettable experience in Hue with Thao. All thanks to Couchsurfing, I made a wonderful friend

At Couchsurfing, you can be both a guest and a host. You should require and message the host 1 month in advance when you start the trip. I love this travel app. In particular, I have a few tips for you when using it:

• Make sure your time goes as planned
• Take the initiative to bring a small gift such as handmade present or a local specialty for the host
• Have a cheerful attitude and don't hesitate to make new friends
