New NY governor adds 12,000 deaths to publicized COVID tally - AP

The AP is reporting that New York Gov. Kathy Hochul just added 12,000 deaths to the NY coronavirus death roster, apparently because these deaths were being hidden by Cuomo to cover up his nursing home fiasco.

Now, without getting into the testing issues I've noted before, it's important to think about this framing-

Remember all of the people praising Cuomo's response in NY and how often people would use NY to show what lockdown and masking measures could do?

Now that there's 12,000 more deaths on the roster, do you think those same people are going to own up to the fact that NY's death count makes their restrictions (comparatively) immaterial?
