Arguing online?
You ever get into an argument online and the other person can only call you names and make emotional appeals? It’s so common to see because clear, logical thinking is NOT a core part of the state schooling process. In fact, what most people gain in their schooling years is only the ability to regurgitate what someone else told them. If you want your kids to be able to cut through the lies and manipulations of others who sophistically appeal to authority or create a strawman, then Connor Boyak’s book, Logical Fallacies, is a great read. Each chapter covers a new fallacy through a story aimed at helping young people see through nonsensical statements. The book is so informative, you’ll likely find yourself learning along too as you read. So don’t wait- help your loved ones become critical thinkers so they can cut through the many manipulations and fallacies out there.
