New tool on HiveTools: The HSBI Utility

Hey everyone,

I'm happy to announce the addition of another tool to the collection on the HiveTools site: the HSBI Utility.

While it's easy enough to send a manual transaction to steembasicincome@steembasicincome to sponsor someone, I wanted to create a tool that adds a couple of quality-of-life checks to make the process smoother and less error-prone. I'm going to use our friendlymoose@friendlymoose as a test subject for this post.

1. Nominee Lookup

First, the tool has a Nominee Lookup that checks to make sure the Hive account you want to sponsor actually exists. You would be surprised how many typos make their way to the HSBI server, and this simple check can prevent you from sending HIVE with the wrong memo and having to wait for a manual correction by josephsavage@josephsavage.

Looks good, account exists.

2. Detailed Membership Info

Once an account is found, the tool displays a detailed breakdown of their HSBI membership status. This includes their total, base, and bonus shares, their pending balance, the estimated value of their next upvote, and their latest activity on the blockchain.

Let's get him some more shares, sorry to put your info on blast.

3. Simple, Error-Free Purchasing

Finally, the tool provides a simple form to purchase the HSBI shares. The nominee's account is already filled out for you, which ensures the memo sent to steembasicincome@steembasicincome is constructed correctly to sponsor the right person. The transaction is then sent securely with Hive Keychain.

Nice and filled out for me.

It's a simple tool, but I hope it proves to be a super useful one for the community.

Mission Complete

As always,
Michael Garcia a.k.a. TheCrazyGM
