Art - Shredder - step by step

Hello all!

I started doing some weird stuff with my art, experimented a lot during this isolation time, my hon @bloomerang helped me a lot with inspiration and research, since we both do digital art a lot these days, gonna make a post about it soon.

She discovered some new techniques that I use a lot now. Here's the art! It's Shredder, main villain from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

The process of making this one was a fun and relaxing experience, all the way, it really made me relaxed and helped me calm myself since I had some serious tooth ache yesterday.

The leader of the foot clan, one and only Shredder, Ninja Turtle nightmare made in my style. I incorporate a lot of mortal Kombat influence in my illustrations, so this was a perfect opportunity to do that approach with the Shredder.

He is kinda roughed out after a fight with turtles here, and there is a bunch of scars from the fight on his body, but guess what, he holds Leonardo's headband in his hand, what could that mean...

Drew it digitally in Photoshop with Wacom drawing pad, here are the steps:

Original sketch with hard lines, so I can try to work my new magic with these babies here, body position was important, to get that fighting effect

Here I blacked out the background, so it would seem he comes out of the shadows, and started doing gentle brush mix movements to make those fine light/dark surfaces to work on

This step is the progress with them surfaces

As you can see, all of this is done in Gray-scale, in order to apply color I did all of the line stuff and surface/shadow stuff beforehand

The final version has color on top, some gradient work done, and lightning, to make him look more dramatic.
