Burnt History

This house had a large fire that caused $500,000 in damage, back in 2023. Thankfully only one man was home at the time and both he and his dog were rescued by firefighters, with only minor injury's.

It has sat abandoned for the 3 years since the fire, with no plans of repairs or demolition.

When I first found this house, my first thoughts were why is it sitting how it is? Set back away from the street with the rest of the houses on the street, barely even having front yards. Also partially "boxed in" by businesses and a now empty University.

It turns out that this house was one of the original farm houses in the area. There is no specific information about this house. But the settlement in the area began in the 1840's and I found one historical photo of what the area looked like. Unfortunately this house would have been just below it's view.

Paint and additions have covered up what this house is. A Victorian era piece of history. Which made what I found inside even sadder.

People loosing everything they have to fire is always tragic, but adding the fact that it was an original home to the area and filled with history. Is really just a tragedy on top of a tragedy! I am really glad to have shot it, even in this state and hopefully it gets saved!
