AI from DeepMind will revolutionize wind farms
We have been listening to the brand's AI capabilities regularly for many months, though recently they have focused on board or video games in which it has proved to be unrivaled.
Now the company has decided to prove that artificial intelligence in its implementation also has a much more practical application that can even revolutionize renewable energy sources, and more specifically wind farms. And although DeepMind can not control the wind, of course, it is able to accurately predict the "methods" of its operation due to machine learning.
In short, artificial intelligence predicts wind movements well in advance, which Google already tests on its own wind turbines, which are of course one of the group's green projects. Already last year, the DeepMind platform has been fed with data from weather stations and specific turbines, as a result of which it is now able to predict wind movements 36 hours earlier.
In this way, Google can well plan the expected energy, all day before the expected delivery, thanks to which we managed to improve the company's wind power by a whole 20%. Needless to say, commercialization of this technology can significantly change the approach to wind farms and their efficiency, which nowadays should be crucial for us - after all, we must abandon fossil fuels and switch to more environmentally friendly solutions.
It is also a big step for DeepMind itself, because the company finally managed to prove that artificial intelligence and machine learning have a real impact on our lives. This is more than just a race of potential opportunities, it is a real tool for solving many serious global problems. In short, we keep our fingers crossed for further work!
