Tour To Peshawar - Bala Hissar Fort & Peshawar Museum

Peshawar trip was only one day long but we got chance to visit so many historical places in just one day. The central city "which is old city Peshawar" offers aesthetic and artistic beauty to you. It actually brings you back to old era. The first place which we visited in Peshawar was Sethi House Museum.

Today, i will be covering rest of the historical places which we visited on the memorable trip to Peshawar.

Mohabat Khan Mosque

We were finding the exact location of Mohabat Khan Mosque. It was time to see the real beauty of mosque which we just have read in books but time has arrived when we are going to witness the real beauty of it.

While, we were searching for mosque, we saw a stone on which iconic symbol of Peshawar was made and it was written "Mohabat Khan Mosque". Our destination came.

We took off our shoes to enter in Masjid. It is located in a little dense yet beautiful market of jewellery where you can also buy jewellery for your loved ones.

My first impression after entering was just of "impressed and mesmerized". I touched the work which was immortal and beautiful. I thought about those artisans who injected their art on these walls of masjid.

It was not prayer time so it was looking spacious and without crowd of people. In the courtyard, i saw, some workers were busy in renovation of Masjid. It's good that government is attentive to renovate the masjid to keep the beauty of masjid preserved in this changing present.

On the front wall, verses from Quran were written beautifully. This masjid has seen so many centuries. This masjid was built in seventeenth century from 1660 to 1670. Although in all those years, this Masjid lost many prints of history and art. Still artistically it is a masterpiece.

We captured a photo there to keep it in the book of memory. We were in hurry as we have to cover so many historical places. We just spent almost twenty minutes in the Masjid. Then we headed towards our next destination. Our next destination was "Bala Hissar Fort".

Bala Hissar Fort

The meaning of Bala Hissar is High Fort. History of this fort is confusing as it is linked with so many rulers of the time. It connected with Chinese travelers too. I was reading history of the fort which is quite interesting that there was so much shift in the history of this fort, which have seen the reign of many kings.

Unfortunately, that day, fort was closed due to official meeting which was going on inside the fort. Otherwise, Fort is open for public on Saturdays and sundays. Even it was sunday but to our bad luck it was closed.

We requested to guard that we came from far flung area to visit this historical fort. He went to officials but nothing worked. We became little sad and gloomy that we couldn't visit one of the top-notch place in the city. Then we headed to our next destination.

Peshawar Museum

A journey without museum isn't a journey. Museums gives us insight about the historic, painful, lived and tragic past. It tells us about the story and events from which the city advanced.

Outside of the musem it was written; "Welcome To Peshawar Museum of Ghandhara Civilization where every stone tells story". This line was catchy which remained in my mind while seeing and observing every piece of history in the museum.

We went inside. We were falling down as we were thirsty like thristy crow. There was a tap from where we quenched our long riding thrist of water. Now we went in and bought five tickets.

Remarkably beautiful..... Vast, Spacious and Historic. It was looking like i am entering into royal palace and my voice will echo in each corner of the palace.

The museum is divided into many sections. There are two floors of the museum. Ground floor is full with history of Buddhism and civilization which grew up in the region.

On section is dedicated to lifestyle of regional people. It tells that what was the living standard of life? And what they used to do? This section preserves the beautiful carpets, dresses and all other things that are connected to life of regional people.

The dress which you are seeing above is dress of "Ahmed Shah Bralvi" who was religious scholar and independent warrior.

War Section

There was complete detail of invasions, resistance and retaliation. Sadly, i couldn't read all the details which was given along with every piece of history. I was just scrolling my eyes from here to there because there were thousands of things.

I saw different swords and paintings of war. Learned about war tactics. Everything drew my attention but things were blurring because i was mixing everything.

Literature Section

I couldn't capture so many pictures there because i was stopped for a while. Actually, that day, i was impressed again and again because every historic thing is my pure love.

There were so many literary work. I saw "Quran" in different forms and from different eras which were preserved in this museum. There was a stone on which two languages were encarved.

We couldn't read those words because those words were written in Sanskrit language which is considered as mother language of many regional languages.

I actually found this beautiful vase in start but it is featured in the middle of my blog. Look, it's beautiful.

There was a coin section where hundreds of coins were attached. I tried to zoom them with my eyes but magnification of my eyes isn't reliable as i depend on my eye-sight glasses.

I stepped further to search more history...... let's come with me.

Here's the oil paintings of king and Queen of Great Britain and these oil paintings are demonstrating the colonial time period of history.

Marble statue of Sir George Keppel who was Chief Commissioner of this region from 1908 to 1919. In our corner it was placed. You know, i tried to talk to Sir George but i think he wasn't in mood to talk.

At the end, i saw paintings of Sikh Rulers of region. There is so much shift of power and there were so many rulers of the region who are now just alived in pictures.

That's how- we visited the city. It was love 😚.
