Art Attack #233: Chibi Spiky Boi

Hey Hive!

We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!

This next one is part of another series of drawings I started as as a redemption reward over on my Twitch channel! It's called Build a Chibi, where I basically draw a custom chibi character for a viewer based on a template I collated.

The viewer will then choose a hairstyle and facial expression from these options and I had a chibi head shape ready as well and I'd draw what they wanted into a chibi digital sticker!

When I first put in the reward, only one person redeemed it so I decided to change it into a subscriber reward instead. I have a wheel of rewards for subscribers to give them a little bonus for their support, and they have a chance to get this custom chibi sticker!

For this next one, my subscriber Pepe wanted this particular hairstyle.

He also chose an interesting facial expression so I sketched them together with my base head shape.

After that I worked on the outline.

After some cleanup, this was the final line art.

I also let the subscriber choose whatever colours they like for the hair and skin tone, and after some colouring, shadow and hair highlights, we get this!

I thought it looked pretty good! A quick little piece as a reward for my supporters that they can keep as a souvenir and also doesn't take too much of my time as well, so it's a win-win for everyone!
