School life is truly a journey that brings a mix of emotions and experiences. There are days filled with laughter, and endless stories to share, but there are also days that feel so tiring, especially when major exams are fast approaching one after another. That's why I believe that taking short breaks in between those stressful days is not only necessary but also meaningful. These little breaks help us regain our energy and prepare our minds to face the challenges of school again. In this blog, I want to share with you the simple yet enjoyable things me and my classmates usually do during our break times in school, things that make our days lighter and our bond as classmates stronger.

Every time we have a vacant period in our schedule, one of the most common things we do is play board games inside our classroom. It may sound simple, but these board games bring us a lot of fun and also sharpen our critical thinking. I truly believe that playing games like these is not just about passing time, but also about making our minds work in different ways. At our age, our cognitive abilities are still developing, so engaging in activities that require strategy and focus can be very helpful. Like this one of our favorite games to play is chess. I know many students who see chess as boring or too serious, but for me, it is one of the most enjoyable games to play with friends. Chess really tests your patience and critical thinking. Every move requires focus and planning ahead, and sometimes, one wrong decision can change the whole outcome of the game. That is why I like it so much, because it pushes me to think more carefully and to be more strategic.

Another board game we enjoy during break time is scrabble. To be honest, when I was younger, I used to think that this game was only meant for really smart people. I felt like it was too difficult and that I could never learn how to play it properly. But when I finally gave it a try and learned the rules, I realized that scrabble is not just for so-called smart people. It is about being creative with letters, and using your brain in a way that improves your vocabulary and critical thinking. I find scrabble to be a very fun game, especially when we all get competitive and try to beat each other with unusual but clever words.

Aside from chess and scrabble, we also spend time playing with a Rubik’s cube. Even though I do not really know how to solve one, I still enjoy watching my classmates play with it. Every time someone quickly twists and turns the cube as if it were the easiest thing, I cannot help but feel amazed. It looks so simple when they do it, but I know from my own experience that it is not easy at all. I remember back when I was in junior high school, I also tried to learn how to solve a Rubik’s cube. I watched tutorials and even practiced for a while, but I always ended up getting stuck until eventually, I gave up. I guess solving the cube is just not for me, but that does not stop me from appreciating how good some of my classmates are at it. Seeing them succeed at something I once struggled with makes me admire their skill even more.

You might wonder why our classroom has so many games available, and the reason is because some of my classmates actually bring them to school for all of us to enjoy. I personally think that this is a smart thing to do because it gives us something fun to do whenever we feel bored during our free time. Instead of spending all our breaks glued to our cellphones, we get to interact with each other face to face. Playing these games not only entertains us but also helps us build stronger friendships. We laugh together, challenge each other, and sometimes even argue a little over the rules, but in the end, it always brings us closer. These little moments of connection matter a lot, especially when school can sometimes feel so overwhelming.

Of course, not all of our breaks are spent playing games. There are also times when me and my friends simply sit together and have small talks. We catch up with each other’s lives, share personal stories, or talk about random things we found online. Sometimes our conversations even turn into gossip, but not in a harmful way. To make things clear, we never gossip about people in a way that could hurt them. We do not talk badly about classmates or spread rumors. Instead, our gossip is more about random issues we find interesting, like political news or unusual events we see on social media. For example, we might talk about a funny video we saw, or a shocking story about an accident that appeared on Facebook. These conversations might sound ordinary, but they are moments where we bond and get to know each other more.

Looking back, I realize that it is these random things that make my high school life truly memorable. It is not just the big events or the major achievements, but also the simple break times filled with laughter, games, and conversations that leave a lasting mark in my memory. These shared moments with my classmates, who eventually became my friends, are treasures that I will carry with me even after we graduate. I know that when the time comes for us to part ways and move on to our different paths, I will often look back and remember the fun times we had together. These bonds we built in the classroom, whether through board games, Rubik’s cubes, or simple talks, will always be a part of my story.

School may sometimes feel tiring and full of pressure, but it is also a place where some of the best memories are made. The stress from exams and assignments is temporary, but the friendships and experiences we gain are things that will stay with us forever. Taking breaks might seem like a small thing, but it gives us the chance to slow down and connect with people around us. These break times remind me that life is not just about studying and passing exams, but also about living in the moment, enjoying the company of friends, and creating stories worth remembering.
