Knowing the first few steps to take towards saving someone during an accident or emergency 🚨 is something very important and something we must all put so much emphasis on as we can be able to save a life no matter how scary we can be or that panic 😱 that many usually encounter when in a shock.

The First Aid ⛑ box is one thing every family endeavors to have especially those with children because kids every now and then must injure themselves while playing in the house, and this has made me to always be on guard, making sure to always have those necessary materials like bandages, methylated spirit, cotton wools, plasters, iodine and some casual tablets like paracetamol.

The awareness of first aid box ⛑ first came to my knowledge during my secondary school days, as usually, we will always go to the medical section of the school 🏫 to take some emergency 🆘 treatment when someone has feverish 🥵 condition or minor headaches. But during school sports 🏀 or football 🏈 match many usually gets hurt and will be attended to with methylated spirit , bandages or plaster.

As a mother, the first emergency and devastating encounter I have attended to was when my daughter had a domestic accident of hot 🥵 water burn 🔥. It was so devastating that I did not know what to do immediately I took her out from the pot of hot water she landed herself into while playing and running into the kitchen. But seconds later I was on a full force. First to strip her of her over all pant she was wearing, and then rushed to to the first aid basket 🧺 to bring out an Olive 🫒 oil which I pour on her legs and towards her bottom.

The next thing I did was to call my husband who instructed me to take her to the hospital immediately. A friend of my also instructed I rob more Olive 🫒 oil while on the way to the hospital as this oil will prevent the burn 🔥 not to shrink her skin deeply. And truly, the Olive oil helped out because at the hospital emergency area, it took us almost 2 to 3 hours to get to see the burnt unit medical doctor before we were finally admitted and stayed in the hospital for almost 2 months for an everyday treatment and total perfect healing ❤️‍🩹 of the burn 🔥.

The second emergency 🆘I did encountered and applied first aid was a serious and shocking one but with the help of God I was able to save a life. This incident happened in a compound where I was living with my family in 2012.

Usually, I will need to prepare the children for school every morning and once they leave for school, I will bath and leave for work. And immediately I finished taking my bath that very morning and about to get dressed, I had the voice of one of my neighbors called mummy Ntoro. This woman 👩🏻 should be in her late 50s and she has about six grown up children. But the problem is because of she is over working herself with the business she is into. The drinks selling business of Bar tending.

So this very morning I heard her voice shouting for help. Her grown up children are not all with her except two younger girls who has gone to their apprentice learning. And immediately I rushed into their apartment, I saw blood 🩸 gushing out of this woman’s mouth. This was a big shock to me because I did not know how can blood 🩸 in chunky blocks or clots be coming out of someone’s mouth. And immediately I opened their refrigerator, carried a plastic of cold 🥶 water 💦 and started pouring it on her head and face while shouting “Blood of Jesus “. For about 10 to 20 minutes blood 🩸 was gushing out of this woman’s mouth and into a huge wrapper we kept under her jaw while I continued to pour more cold 🥶 water.

And suddenly, the blood gush started stopping gradually . This is when I immediately told her we should leave to any nearest clinic around. We took another wrapper to put under her jaw, cover her head with another wrapper to avoid attention from people on the road. Quickly we were lucky to get a three cyclist 🚴‍♀️ who took us to a nearby hospital. She was immediately admitted and examined. The doctor on duty found out that one of her vain that supplies blood 🩸to her head raptured due to her high blood pressure. She was immediately put to sleep with some drugs to enable the pulse close up. She however was admitted for 5 days for a proper bed 🛌 rest. What a strong woman 👩🏻? And what an experience? An experience that I will never forget, and one that taught me many lessons. It was indeed all glory to God.

However, CPR can be performed in several ways according to the injury sustained. But the most important is keeping the injured safely until further help arrives or taken. In minor wounds and bleeding, methylated spirit can be applied to stop the bleeding which is so painful but helps the injury. But in sever bleeding, we need to bridge the bleeding 🩸 by tying a cloth between the wound to prevent more bleeding, but help must be called for immediately.
