Vedic Maths Tutorial 2!
Today we will learn about addition of Double Digit with Single Digit. So traditionally, we have learned that we need to start from right to left in order to add 2 digits. But according to the rules of vedic maths, addition has to follow left to right rule.

Let’s see a very simple example where we add 2 numbers, 1 single digit and 1 double digit.
12
+6
In this example, we first quickly do a mind calculation whether the Units place digit is a carry over or simple addition. This can be easily done since we have already mastered tutorial 1. So in this example, since 2+6 is not a carry over, we write the tens digit as it is and right the sum of units place digit on the right.
So the answer comes out to be 18.
Let’s take another example where the units digit is a carry over.
12
+9
In this example, we can think is microseconds that the units digit sum is a carry over. So we add 1 to the tens place and write the tens place answer and write the units digit of 2+9 in the ones place.
So the answer comes out to be 21.
Let’s see another example.
45
+7
Since 5+7 is a carry over, we write 5 in tens place and 2 at ones place.
Isn’t this simple?
Now practice this with multiple sums until you can get the answers within 2 seconds.
34 67 56 45 23 78 67 08 23 13 21 18 56
+5 +9 +8 +7 +6 +5 +4 +3 +2 +1 +8 +5 +6
98 87 76 65 54 43 32 21 12 23 34 45 56
+5 +4 +3 +2 +1 +6 +7 +8 +9 +8 +2 +5 +6
So you must practice more problems around this to master this addition and in the next tutorial, we will discuss double digit with double digit addition.
