Khichdi Recipe!
Khichdi is a famous dish made of rice and dal. It is usually associated by people to illness, they say you eat khichadi when you are ill. But that’s not the case.
Khichdi is light, healthy and hence is consumed when one doesn’t feel like eating too much or too heavy. But it’s not bland in taste at all. If made nicely, it is a very tasty rice dish. You can choose to use yellow or green moong dal along with rice to make it. It’s extremely simply and can be cooked in 10 minutes.
Ingredients
- Half cup Rice
- Half cup dal
- 1 tbsp jeera
- 1/2 tbsp black pepper powder
- 7/8 garlic cloves
- Salt to taste
- Ghee for tadka
Accompaniments
- Achaar
- Curd
Recipe
Step 1: wash the rice and dal and mix well.
Step 2: take 4 cups of water in a pressure cooker. Add dal and rice and salt according to your taste. Let it cook until 1 whistle and then turn off the gas.
Step 3: once the Steem in the cooker settles down, open the lid.
Step 4: take a small pan, add 1 tbsp ghee. Once it turns hot, add jeera, chopped garlic and black pepper. Turn off the gas and add this ghee tadka to the pressure cooker.
Step 5: let the khichdi cook with the tadka for about 2-3 minutes.
Step 6: serve hot with chutney and curd.
