Dailyprompt - It's not that hard

The tall man looked down at me as I huffed like a dog.

“Come on, it’s not that hard,” he said from atop the horse.

I glared at him, leaning against the tree. “Why don’t you try scouting instead?”

The wind was turning colder, biting through the air. We were still far from camp.

“At least we brought fur jackets.”

“Yeah,” I muttered.

Darkness came too quickly. One moment it was evening, then the world dimmed until I could barely see.

Darkness, it seemed, was more eager this year.
