Spring Flowerings around in Vermont

Crabapple

Its been a lovely spring in Vermont. The right mix of sun and rain to make everything green and healthy. I have an old crabapple that always flowers abundantly. It loss a big branch a few years ago but with a little pruning it has restored itself with a full canopy.

Dame Rocket

Dame rocket is one of those invasive species that I have a love/hate relationship with. They are also white sometimes. Dame rocket is often confused with phlox but the easy way to remember is DAME has 4 petal flowers PHLOX has 5 petals. Get it?

More crabapple

Another shot of my old crabapple. Its old relative to the trees I have planted over the last 5 years but probably planted around when the house was built. So 15-18 years old.

Elderberry

Elderberry is native to Vermont. I don't have any on my land. I may plant some in a wet area along a creek. Still thinking about it. I will probably do some gooseberries first and see how they do.

Azalea

Azaleas and rhododendrons are very common landscaping around the old farmsteads in Vermont. I don't have any and again its something I'm considering. Love the showy colors just need to find the right place.

Sweet Geranium

I got this geranium from a neighbor and it is growing nicely in the shade next to a rockwall. The neighbor called it sweet geranium but I think it is actually musk geranium. Either way it does smell nice plus flowering and spreading each year.
