Is EOS going to be a major threat to Steem/Steemit and if so, how soon?

I don't see eos as a major direct competitor as its vision, from what I understand, is to build more of an infrastructure akin to ethereum (whilst seeking to solve many of ethereum's current scaling issues) rather than a direct improved clone of steemit. Although I do understand that a social media platform is part of the plan to build on top of it...

In my view, another social media platform would be good for Steemit. Steemit needs some competition right now to help raise awareness and keep the development team on point.

Overall I can only see good things ahead for both steem/steemit and Eos.
