This is fun music for bass player. It's also an essential study for finger style funk. Tower Of Power has a bass player who is very famous for the way he mutes his notes.
So not only is he a briliant player in many many many other way, but he created a slick muted sound that many try to emulate. I said all that, but this song is one of the easy ones. I should be playing it "perfectly." :)
I acctually belive some bass player favor too many short notes sometimes. it's almost a group trap. Those notes have to cut off real nice. If you can't cut them off real nice, you better make it long and thick and appropriate note lengths. Rhythm is still king. I'm grateful for the musical directors who demanded long notes. We like think bass.

Very healthy to learn.

I'm glad our band likes to do these songs. I can't imagine it's easy to find a person that sings Tower Of Power songs.
