CRV Diary 9 Last Of The Year 12/07/2022

Hello recycling and garbage collecting scavengers.

This is another installment of California redemption value diaries.

I did not do a lot of exercise to collect recyclables. I started out this series. I’m making an effort to walk around and collect recyclables. Lots of benefits to the practice, but I need to save my feet. My feet took a beating this summer, and while I was a full-time musician also. I maintain circulation and cardiovascular health by saving, the walking effort for a local Hillside.

Hills and steps are a great way to get cardio without beating up your body. Just because you can’t run, doesn’t mean you can’t access, cardiovascular exercise.

Here we are. The arsenal of barrels/plastic trash containers awaits. They look so eager.

I grab three and this is what they look like before I empty out my load.

This is my load. Everything in the back except for one bag. It doesn’t feel like a lot of recycling. I don’t expect much from this run.

I hate the glass. I hate the sound of the bottles falling into the trash bin. I don’t know why, but the sound is extremely disturbing to me. I hate collecting bottles. They are too heavy. Out of all three items, glass is the most cumbersome.

Sometimes I avoid glass completely. I aim for aluminum and plastic. The glass is there, so I take it if it’s easy. I’m starting to wonder what would happen if I focused on aluminum and plastic more.

I hate the glass.

Hey, look, an animal. Go figure, a pigeon finds this area comfortable. What the hell is he looking for? Maybe it smells good to the pigeon. Maybe the pigeon is interested in that pile of water ? Yuck.

I’m almost done and the car is empty. These are my trash barrels.

I was more organized than I thought. Organizing as you go. Save a lot of time.

This batch of recycling earned $22.17. Anything over $20 and I say that’s good. I’m sure I spent way more than $20 for my contribution of this recycling, but most of it comes from an easily accessible recycling bin at work.

It’s literally a turn trash in the cash situation. I’m probably not maximizing the situation, but I’m staying out of danger and that’s a win in the long run. I’m not interested in contracting hepatitis B while digging around recycling bins. There’s risks but I minimize better than an alley cat.

The cashier gave me an extra big smile today. I’ve noticed her looking at me before, and I’ve allowed myself to be noticed while noticing her looking.

It’s not polite to hit on people while they’re at work, but it’s a bonus to receive a nice smile from a pretty woman.
